Every new Nissan comes with a manufacturer's New Vehicle Limited Warranty. Certified Pre-Owned Nissans carry extended powertrain coverage. Most other used vehicles are covered by whatever warranty remains from the original in-service date, plus optional extended protection plans you can add at any time.
This page breaks down what's covered on new, Certified Pre-Owned and used Nissan vehicles, what extended protection options are available, and what to know about Nevada's auto warranty and lemon laws.
Coverage terms can vary by model year and VIN. Always confirm accurate coverage for your specific vehicle with 777 Nissan or Nissan USA before making a purchase decision.
New Nissan Warranty Coverage
Every new Nissan sold in the US comes backed by Nissan's factory New Vehicle Limited Warranty, commonly called "bumper-to-bumper" coverage.
| Coverage | Term | What It Covers |
|---|---|---|
| Basic (bumper-to-bumper) | 3 years / 36,000 miles | Defects in materials or workmanship on most original parts |
| Powertrain | 5 years / 60,000 miles | Engine, transmission/transaxle, drive axle and related internal components |
| CVT extension (select models) | Up to 7 years / 84,000 miles | Extended coverage on continuously variable transmissions |
| Corrosion (perforation) | 5 years / unlimited miles | Body panels that rust through from a factory defect |
| Seat belts | 10 years / unlimited miles | Seat belt system defects |
| EV battery (LEAF, Ariya) | 8 years / 100,000 miles | Lithium-ion battery, EV system components |
| Roadside assistance | 3 years / 36,000 miles | 24/7 towing, lockout, flat tire and jump-start support |
| Federal emissions components | 8 years / 80,000 miles | Catalytic converter, engine control module (as required by federal law) |
Whichever number comes first, years or miles, is when that coverage ends. The Nissan Titan and NV Series Van carry a longer 5-year/100,000-mile basic warranty; the GT-R follows the standard 3-year/36,000-mile term.
Once the bumper-to-bumper warranty expires (typically year 3), items like air conditioning, infotainment, power accessories and non-powertrain electronics are no longer covered unless you've added an extended protection plan.
Nissan Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) Warranty
Nissan Certified Pre-Owned vehicles are backed by additional factory warranty coverage on top of whatever original warranty remains. There are three CPO tiers:
Nissan Certified
For Nissan vehicles up to 6 years old with under 80,000 miles. Vehicles must pass a 167-point inspection.
- 7-year/100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty, from the original in-service date
- 24/7 roadside assistance for the duration of the warranty
- One year (or 15,000 miles) of prepaid maintenance
EV Certified
For eligible Nissan electric vehicles up to 6 years old with under 80,000 miles, passing a 139-point inspection.
- 7-year/100,000-mile limited warranty covering the battery and EV system
- Roadside assistance and prepaid maintenance, same as Nissan Certified
Certified Select
For Nissan and eligible non-Nissan vehicles up to 10 years old with under 100,000 miles, passing an 84-point inspection.
- 1-year/12,000-mile limited powertrain warranty
- One complimentary maintenance visit (Nissan models) or up to $50 reimbursement (non-Nissan models)
A $100 per-visit deductible generally applies to CPO powertrain repairs. Coverage is fully transferable if you sell the vehicle before the warranty ends, a plus for resale value.
Warranty Coverage on Other Used Vehicles
Not every used vehicle on our lot is Certified Pre-Owned and that doesn't mean it's unprotected.
- Used Nissans still within the original 3-year/36,000-mile or 5-year/60,000-mile factory windows carry whatever time or mileage is left on those warranties, regardless of who owns the vehicle. Factory warranties follow the VIN, not the original buyer.
- Used vehicles sold "as-is" are not required to leave the lot uncovered. Federal law requires every used-car dealer to post an FTC Buyers Guide on the vehicle's window stating clearly whether it's sold "as-is" or with a warranty, and what that warranty covers. Always read the Buyers Guide before you sign.
- Non-Nissan trade-ins and other used inventory may qualify for a limited dealer warranty or can be paired with a third-party or Nissan-backed extended protection plan at the time of sale.
Extended Protection Plans
Once factory or CPO coverage runs out, an extended protection plan can help you avoid paying out of pocket for major repairs.
Nissan Security+Plus® is Nissan's own factory-backed extended service contract, available on new, Certified Pre-Owned and qualifying used Nissans.
- Multiple plan levels, from powertrain-only up to near-bumper-to-bumper coverage
- Repairs performed by factory-trained technicians using Genuine Nissan Parts
- Transferable to a future owner, which can help resale value
- Can typically be added anytime before your factory warranty expires, and financed into your loan or lease
Ask our finance team which Security+Plus plan level fits your vehicle, mileage and how long you plan to keep it.
Nevada Warranty & Lemon Law Basics
Auto warranty and consumer-protection laws differ by state. Here's what applies if you're buying or registering your Nissan in Nevada:
- New vehicle lemon law (NRS 597.600–597.688): A new vehicle may qualify as a "lemon" if the same defect isn't fixed after 4 or more repair attempts, or the vehicle is out of service for 30 or more cumulative days, within the earlier of the warranty period or 1 year from delivery. Nevada's lemon law applies to new vehicles purchased, leased or registered in the state. It does not generally apply to used vehicles outside their first year, though the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act may still apply if a written warranty is in effect.
- High-mileage used vehicle inspection: Nevada requires dealers selling a used vehicle with more than 75,000 miles to inspect the engine and drivetrain and provide the buyer a written report of that inspection.
- FTC Buyers Guide: As with every state, Nevada dealers must post a Buyers Guide on used vehicles disclosing warranty terms or "as-is" status.
- Complaints: Nevada DMV Compliance Enforcement can be reached at (702) 486-4368 (Las Vegas area).
Buying out-of-state or planning to register your Nissan elsewhere?
Lemon law timeframes, mileage thresholds and whether used vehicles are covered at all vary significantly state to state. Some states require formal arbitration before a lawsuit.
Check your destination state's DMV or Attorney General consumer protection office, or review the FTC's guide to used vehicle sales and the National Center for State Courts' state lemon law summaries for details specific to your state.

Frequently Asked Questions
Every new Nissan includes a 3-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper limited warranty and a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain limited warranty, plus separate coverage for corrosion, seat belts, and EV batteries.
It can. If the vehicle is still within its original 3-year/36,000-mile or 5-year/60,000-mile window, that coverage carries over to the new owner. Nissan Certified Pre-Owned vehicles add up to 7 years/100,000 miles of powertrain coverage on top of that.
Nissan Certified covers Nissan vehicles up to 6 years old / under 80,000 miles with a 7-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty. Certified Select covers Nissan and non-Nissan vehicles up to 10 years old / under 100,000 miles with a shorter 1-year/12,000-mile powertrain warranty.
Yes. Nissan Security+Plus and other extended protection plans can typically be added to new, CPO and many used vehicles at the time of purchase or while factory coverage is still active.
Nevada's lemon law is written primarily for new vehicles within their first year or under the manufacturer's warranty. Used vehicles outside that window generally fall under the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (if a written warranty applies) rather than the state lemon law.
